The Ocean Action Platform is one of several partnership initiatives managed by UN Global Compact. This initiative focuses on sustainable development goals below water and will engage UN agencies, the private sector, government, academia, and NGOs.
“We are very proud to be the first business partner for this initiative,” Palm said in a statement.
“Ocean challenges must be solved through multi-stakeholder dialogue, between governments, business, research institutions and civil society, and we believe the UN Global Compact will be an excellent arena for this dialogue.”
The formal Business Action Platform — aunderstood to be about companies reporting their environmental goals and results to the UN, as well as qualifying a “greener” supply chain— was first heralded in early 2017 but will officially launch in New York in June 2018, “when the full participation in the initiative has been determined”.
