Major Marine Harvest shareholder tops Norway’s richest

A Norwegian magazine has released its latest rich list and its another good year for salmon farmers. 

Kapital’s annual overview of Norway’s 400 richest is based on a review of shareholder entries, properties and other investments as reported in Vol magazine.

Topping the list again is shipping tycoon and big Marine Harvest shareholder, John Fredriksen (74), thriving with EUR 12 billion. Last year, it was was EUR 10 billion. Fredriksen has topped the list for the past 15 years.

Gustav Witzøe (65) controls 52,5% of the stocks at the listed salmon farmer SalMar. He increased his assets from EUR 2 billion last year to EUR 3 billion this year. Witzøe is now 9th place on the list, up 4 places from last year.

Up 22 places from last year is the CEO and founder of the aquaculture company Nordlaks, Inge Berg, with fortune of EUR 937 million against EUR 541 million in 2017. Berg is now in 20th place.

According to Kapital, the 400 richest in the country control an eye-watering EUR 140 billion, compared to EUR 123 billion last year.
