New Marine Harvest smokehouse ups capacity by 75%

Ducktrap River of Maine has been part of Marine Harvest since 2007.

Marine Harvest has officially opened Ducktrap River of Maine’s second smoked seafood facility in Belfast, USA, according to the Republican Journal.

The new 50,000-square-foot facility will produce cold smoked salmon exclusively and will increases Ducktrap’s production capacity by 75 percent.

According to a company press release reported in the site, the expanded operation in Maine “will allow for continued growth and innovation for Marine Harvest and the Ducktrap brand in the growing smoked salmon category.”

Technologically advanced kilns, slicers and packaging equipment from France, Denmark and Germany are integrated into the new, production space which stated, “The combination of Ducktrap’s unique brining and smoking recipes with advanced technology is the perfect blend of tradition and innovation.”
