The Scottish Salmon Company has signed a long-term agreement with Netherlands-based breeding technology firm, Hendrix Genetics.
“This significant step supports the development of the brood stock programme and strengthens the freshwater programme for the Company,” a statement from the Scottish company said.
The Dutch company are tasked with helping develop “a unique brood-stock programme for Native Hebridean Salmon”.
Craig Anderson, chief executive of The Scottish Salmon Company, said ensuring a consistent supply of smolt was a goal of the partnership, adding that the Hebridean brood program had been under development, in-house for “a number of years”.
