“Puerto Dumesstre Hydrobiological Resource Processing Plant” will cost USD 70 million.
Radio Del Mar reports that the Chilean salmon farmer Australis Seafoods is building a “world-class processing plant” on 8 hectares of land, 1km away from Puerto Natales, southern Chile.
Last year, China’s Joyvio Group and its co-investor Silk Road Fund took over the Chilean salmon farmer for USD 921 million, one of the largest acquisitions in Chile’s aquaculture industry.
The “mega” project will contain 16 buildings, including sanitary, electrical and mechanical units, for the operation of the processing facilty with a capacity of 71,280 tonnes per year of salmon.
The site is expected to be operational by May 2021.
