Jamie Gaskill has handed in notice.
In a press release, Mowi writes that Alan Cook has been appointed the new Managing Director for Mowi operations in Atlantic Canada.
Cook started his career in salmon farming at Mowi in1998 as a farm technician. He brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, having taken on leadership positions within the salmon farming and fisheries industries in Canada, Chile, the United States and most recently New Zealand, where he acted as COO of New Zealand King Salmon before joining Mowi.
Mowi CEO Ivan Vindheim is very pleased with the recruitment:“I am delighted to have Alan on board. He is a very experienced farmer and I look forward to working with him.”
The appointment of Cook comes as Jamie Gaskill has provided notice to Mowi that he is resigning his role so that he “can spend more time with his young family while focusing on specific projects in the salmon farming and seafood industry.”
Gaskill has worked in the salmon aquaculture industry for more than 30 years, and with Mowi for the past 18 years in a variety of locations throughout the world. Over the course of his career he has worked in roles that have included Production Director (seawater and freshwater) for Mowi Canada West during a period of innovation and change that improved profitability, Regional Director of Mowi’s Region South in Norway, and most recently Managing Director of Mowi Canada East, which involved leading the establishment of that new business unit.
“Mowi thanks Jamie for his contribution to the company, and we wish him well in his future endeavours,” wrote the salmon farmer.
