Global airport industry believes salmon will be hit.

Diario Fiancerio reports that trade association The Air Transport Association (IATA) expects a drop off in salmon exports to lower air connectivity.

Hit by COVID-19, the airport industry was expected to generate around USD 172 billion this year, but the impact of the crisis on airport revenue will result in a reduction of USD 111.8 billion.

In a report published by the IATA, which was founded in 1945 and consists of 290 airlines, primarily major carriers, representing 117 countries, it was mentioned that Chile’s main airlines that transport fish, including Latam Airlines, Air France and Iberia, will continue to see their frequencies decreased.

The drop-off will mean a reduction of around 15.4 per-cent of Chilean salmon and trout exports, it said.

The publication said that IATA Vice President for Latin America Peter Cerdá will offer more details on Thursday at a final press conference, with a focus on Chile and its salmon industry.
