Virus detected at Chilean salmon farm.
In a statement, the Chilean fishing and aquaculture authority Sernapesca writes that on January 21, positive diagnostic test results for the Infectious Salmon Anemia Virus (ISA) were detected at a Cultivos Yadran site, located in Aysén, south Chile.
Upon receipt of laboratory results on Thursday, January 21, the salmon farm was notified as suspected for the disease.
Sernapesca said it was waiting on extra test results.
Authorities declared a Cultivos Yadran site as an “infected zone” last November which means that the has to be surveilled for at least two years. The salmon farmer produces around 55,000 tonnes of salmon a year.
