Norwegian salmon farmer Masoval is ready to slaughter the fish if the virus is confirmed.
Masoval announced in a stock exchange filing that the company had identified a suspected outbreak of Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISA) at its Slettvika site in Western Norway.
The company stated that the affected site has 535,000 fish with an average weight of 3kg. It is awaiting confirmation to verify the diagnosis, meaning the consequences are “difficult to estimate now,” Masoval said in the statement.
The salmon farmer is continuing to work on identifying the scope of the infection and will provide more information when it is ready.
