Intership is in a phase of rapid expansion, with two more well boats under construction.
Norwegian well boat firm Intership has announced the receipt of its latest well boat Inter Scotia, from Zamakona Yards Bilbao.
The battery-hybrid well boat, designed by Salt Ship Design, boasts a load capacity of 2,500 m3 and aims to set new standards in fish welfare, biosecurity, and environmental sustainability.
The vessel is the company’s second delivery following its sister vessel, “Inter Atlantic,” both of which were designed to enhance fish welfare and handling while prioritising biosecurity.
“Inter Scotia” features a comprehensive battery package that, along with its heat-recovery system and other sustainability measures, cuts fuel consumption and reduces climate emissions considerably.
Notably, the vessel’s fish-handling system is delivered by MMC First Process and is supplemented with a high-capacity freshwater production system, capable of generating 5,000 m3 of freshwater daily.
“Inter Scotia will initially serve a salmon farming operation in Scotland,” said Ole Peter Brandal, CEO of Intership. “After a few months of operation, the vessel will undergo a temporary halt for the installation of the FLS Caligus R600 delousing system. Our focus has always been on creating the most efficient and gentle methods for treating salmon, and our new setup will further enhance our high-capacity freshwater production system,” he added.
