“Our first priority is our people, our people and our people. Next the fish. And then we will assess the extent of the damage,” said Williksen.

Police and firefighters promptly responded to the scene, successfully extinguishing the fire. Authorities continue to investigate the attack on site, with the total damage still being evaluated by the company.

Despite the attack, Benchmark Genetics assured that their business operations remain uninterrupted. “Our fish survived the attack and are in good condition. We continue to serve our customers as normal,” the company said.

The incident, claimed by the ORT of the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco (CAM), has raised concerns over the safety and security in the region.
