Steve Tucker, the former CEO of digital learning management system Itslearning, is set to assume the role of COO and president at Aquabyte, the company announced on Thursday.
Aquabyte, headquartered in Bergen, specializes in developing a monitoring system that employs underwater cameras and advanced machine learning and AI to analyze images of fish in aquaculture.
CEO Bryton Shang expressing confidence that Tucker will contribute to the company’s growth and market leadership in data-driven aquaculture technology.
“Steve is a uniquely qualified top manager who brings with him many years of experience as a commercial manager and CEO from Norwegian and international technology companies. I am sure that he will help build our company further, bring us to the next level of growth and further strengthen Aquabyte’s position as a market leader in data-driven aquaculture technology,” said Shang.
The company’s system was the first to gain approval from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority for automatic lice counting on farmed salmon and trout in 2020.
Today, Aquabyte has close to 100 employees spread across offices in Bergen, Boston, San Francisco and Puerto Montt, Chile. Aquabyte’s customer base includes eight of the ten largest companies in the aquaculture industry.
Tucker will work from Aquabyte’s Bergen office.
