Cooke Scotland has tripled its organic production over the past decade.
Cooke Aquaculture Scotland marks its 10th anniversary of operations in the United Kingdom this May with a name change.
The company will now be called Cooke Scotland to tie in with a move by parent company, Cooke Inc., based in New Brunswick, Atlantic Canada.
Established in 2014, Cooke Aquaculture Scotland was founded as part of Cooke’s global strategy to expand through acquisitions and organic growth, addressing the rising demand for fresh seafood.
“Ten years ago this month, the Cooke family acquired seawater and freshwater assets in Orkney, Shetland, and the UK mainland, subsequently enhancing its Scottish operations,” said Colin Blair, Managing Director at Cooke Scotland in a press release on Monday.
“I take great pride in what we have accomplished as a leading producer of world-renowned Scottish salmon and the largest producer of organic Scottish salmon.”
Over the past decade, Cooke Scotland has tripled its organic production and significantly increased its general production and supply, shipping over 52 million fresh farmed salmon to more than 16 countries.
As a major employer in the Scottish Northern Isles, with over 380 staff, Cooke Scotland plays a crucial role in local communities. Since 2018, the company has donated over £700,000 through the Cooke Community Benefit Fund to support local events, activities, groups, and projects in Scotland, the Northern Isles, and northern England.
“I wish to thank all those who have accompanied us on our journey over the past decade, including our incredibly dedicated and talented staff, our longstanding customers, and the communities we will continue to support,” said Blair.
To mark this milestone, Cooke Scotland has unveiled a refreshed brand identity as part of a global branding initiative. The new brand aims to create a cohesive and compelling identity globally, unifying Cooke’s companies under one name, one team, and one purpose.
