Infectious salmon anemia (ISA) is suspected at Mowi’s Munkskjæra site in Frøya municipality, Trøndelag county, Norway.
Mowi reported the suspicion to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority on May 31, following positive PCR sample results. The samples have been sent to the Veterinary Institute for further testing to confirm the diagnosis, according to a press release from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

In response to the potential outbreak, restrictions have been imposed at the site, including a ban on moving fish without special permission, to limit the spread of infection.
Should the diagnosis be confirmed, a restriction zone comprising a protection zone and a monitoring zone will be established around the site. This zone will enforce various restrictions, including limitations on traffic in the surrounding area.
