Icelandic salmon producer Arnarlax has received a new farming license from the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST) and the Environment Agency of Iceland (UST).
The license permits a maximum biomass of 10,000 tonnes of sterile salmon across three new sites in Ísafjarðardjúp.
CEO Bjørn Hembre expressed satisfaction with the licensing process.

With this addition, Arnarlax’s total license capacity rises to 33,700 tons, including 23,700 tons of fertile salmon in Arnarfjörður, Patreks, and Tálknafjörður, and 10,000 tons of sterile salmon in Ísafjörður.
An outstanding application for a 4,500-tonne MAB license in Arnarfjörður is expected to be processed under new legislation.
