During the visit, Forbes pledged to protect Scotland’s food and drink industries, highlighting the Scottish salmon sector, which exported £581 million worth of salmon in 2023, making it the country’s largest food export.

She also test-drove one of DFDS’s new electric trucks, part of their fleet aimed at reducing emissions and achieving net-zero status.

Forbes’ constituency, Skye, Lochaber, and Badenoch, includes several salmon farms operated by companies such as Bakkafrost Scotland, Loch Duart Salmon, Mowi Scotland, Organic Sea Harvest, and Scottish Sea Farms.
