The new boats will have a capacity of 4,700 m³ each.
Norwegian shipping company Njord Aquashipping has announced the order of two new wellboats for delivery in 2027.
The vessels will be constructed at Norwegian shipyard Aas Mek. Verksted.
Njord Aquashipping is controlled by Norwegian aquaculture tycoon Helge Gåsø through his investment vehicle, Frøy Kapital. Gåsø, who has a long history in farming and service vessels, used the settlement from the sale of salmon farming giants NTS and NRS to SalMar to establish Frøy Kapital and re-enter the wellboat sector.
“This is an exciting step for Njord Aquashipping,” said CEO Tomas Okstad in a press release issued on Monday. “We are very pleased to collaborate with Aas Mek. Verksted and look forward to strengthening our fleet with these state-of-the-art vessels. We thank our employees for their hard work and dedication, which has made this possible, and we look forward to developing alongside new customers.”
“We at the shipyard consider the contracts with Njord Aquashipping very important for our position as a leading wellboat builder. We look forward to a long and good cooperation with Njord Aquashipping, which has the ambition to become a significant player in wellboat services,” said Frode J. Aas, CEO of Aas Mek. Verkstd..
