Salmon farming giant Cooke Scotland’s Community Benefit Fund has provided a donation to the Shetland Canoe Club (SCC) with the aim of enhancing inclusive kayaking opportunities and overcoming participation barriers.

Working with Ability Shetland, an organization supporting individuals with disabilities, the funding will be used to purchase adaptive equipment for paddlesports.

Additionally, the donation will help provide more equipment to keep club entry costs low and purchase waterproof clothing to ensure broader participation.

Charis Scott, Sports Development Coordinator at Ability Shetland, said, “With the new equipment for the club, kayaking will become even more inclusive on the island and open the water up to so many more people. We can’t wait to see people out on the sea soon, exploring Shetland for the first time on the water.”
