The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has confirmed the presence of Bacterial Kidney Disease (BKD) at a fish farming site in Sykkylven, Møre og Romsdal.
The site is operated under a license held by Hofseth Sea Farming and Ewos Innovation.
The suspicion of BKD was initially reported on 1 August, and the confirmation has now been issued by the authority. The source of the infection remains unknown.
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has notified the operators that the entire site must be emptied by 1 September.
