Icelandic land-based producer appoints former Salmon Evolution CEO

Icelandic land-based salmon farming company GeoSalmo has announced the appointment of Håkon André Berg as its new Executive Chairman.

Alongside his new role, Berg has also invested in the company, becoming a significant shareholder.

Berg brings a wealth of experience to GeoSalmo, having previously served as CEO of Salmon Evolution, Norway’s largest land-based salmon farming company.

Under his leadership, Salmon Evolution grew into a global leader in the industry, reaching its first harvest milestone. His background also includes roles in private equity and business development within the seafood sector, as well as serving on various company boards.

In joining GeoSalmo, Berg recognizes the potential of the Icelandic land-based salmon industry and aims to contribute to its development. His experience is expected to be instrumental as GeoSalmo pursues its vision of building a high-tech salmon farm near Þorlákshöfn, Iceland.

As Executive Chairman, Berg will work closely with GeoSalmo’s management to advance the company’s strategic plans.

GeoSalmo CEO Jens Þórðarson expressed enthusiasm about Berg’s appointment, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Håkon as Executive Chairman and shareholder. His success in developing Salmon Evolution into an industry leader will bring significant strength to our team as we embark on the next exciting phase of our journey.”
