Move comes after outgoing managing director, Bernt Olav Røttingsnes told the board he wanted a change.
Charles Høstlund, the current chairman of Nordic Aquafarms and former CEO of Norway Royal Salmon (NRS), has been appointed as the new CEO of Nordic Aquafarms, effective immediately.
The announcement was made via a press release on September 10, 2024.
Høstlund succeeds Bernt Olav Røttingsnes, who voluntarily stepped down from the role after nearly six years at the helm. Røttingsnes will continue to oversee the company’s activities in California.
“We are pleased to have Charles Høstlund take over as CEO. With his extensive leadership experience in the aquaculture industry, we are confident he is the right person to lead Nordic Aquafarms through its next phase of development, particularly in yellowtail kingfish farming,” said Haakon Aschehoug, a member of the Nordic Aquafarms board.
Høstlund, who brings over 20 years of aquaculture leadership experience from both Mowi and NRS, expressed his excitement about the role, highlighting the company’s strong position in the yellowtail kingfish market.
