Icelandic land-based salmon farmer announces new CFO

Icelandic land-based salmon farmer Laxey has appointed Hörður Orri Grettisson as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

Grettisson brings a wealth of experience to the company, holding a BSc in Business from the University of Iceland and a Master’s degree in Economics from Aarhus BSS. His extensive background includes leadership roles at Ísfélag Vestmannaeyja, where he served as director of the economics department, and most recently as manager of ferry company Herjólfur. He also previously managed the ÍBV sports club.

A native of Vestmannaeyjar, Hörður has deep connections to the local community, which Laxey sees as a key asset. His involvement in various community initiatives and his understanding of the local culture are expected to strengthen Laxey’s position and alignment with the values of the region.

“Hörður is the right choice for Laxey. His strong connection to the community, coupled with his extensive leadership experience, makes him uniquely qualified to drive our mission forward,” said Daði Pálsson, CEO of Laxey.

The appointment comes as Laxey looks to further its growth and strengthen its financial operations. With Hörður’s background in economics and management, the company anticipates improved financial strategy and community engagement.

Hörður will join Laxey after completing his notice period at Herjólfur.
