Japanese minister pays official visit to land-based producer

Proximar Seafood welcomed Vice Minister Takemura from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) to its state-of-the-art facility at the foot of Mount Fuji, the company announced on Wednesday.

During the visit, Vice Minister Takemura was given a tour of the facility by Proximar’s CEO, Joachim Nielsen, and was served fresh Atlantic salmon produced on-site.

Nielsen expressed appreciation for MAFF’s support over the years, stating, “We are encouraged by the strong interest in Proximar and are excited to showcase our operations ahead of our first harvest on 30 September.”

Proximar, headquartered in Norway, is a landbased fish farmer, operating a 28,000 square meters facility by the foot of Mount Fuji. The facility has an annual production capacity of 5,300 tonnes of head-on-gutted Atlantic salmon.
