Service boat provider Intership/Aquaship has announced the acquisition of the wellboat Lifjell from Brønnbåt Nord.

Following the purchase, the vessel has been renamed Inter Nordic and will immediately begin operations under a long-term contract with a major Norwegian salmon farmer, the company stated in a press release on Friday.

This acquisition is part of Intership/Aquaship’s broader growth strategy, with CEO Ole Peter Brandal commenting that the move aligns with the company’s objectives for expanding its operations and customer base.

“These two acquisitions, the clients we are placing them with, and the region they will operate in are all integral to our strategy for continued growth,” Brandal noted.

Inter Nordic was built by Aas Mekaniske Verksted and delivered in 2012. The wellboat has a volume capacity of 1,500 m³ and had been operated by Brønnbåt Nord until the recent transaction.

This purchase marks the second recent acquisition for Intership/Aquaship, following its June 2024 acquisition of the wellboat Bjørg Pauline from Nordlaks. With this latest addition, Intership/Aquaship now operates six vessels on long-term contracts in Norway.

The company, which merged in December 2023, currently manages a fleet of 39 vessels, including wellboats, harvest vessels, utility boats, feed barges, and service vessels.

Intership/Aquaship employs nearly 700 people and operates in Norway, Scotland, Chile, Canada, and Ireland.
