A hearing to determine whether activist Don Staniford will be restricted from accessing Bakkafrost Scotland properties has been delayed. Originally scheduled for Monday at Dunoon Sheriff Court, the session has been moved to December 23.
This postponement means Staniford’s appeal against an existing trespass ban at Mowi’s facilities is now expected to proceed first, potentially in November. Mowi had secured an injunction last year, which was largely upheld by the courts earlier in 2024 after an appeal.
Sheriff Andrew Berry, who had ruled on the Mowi case, was set to oversee today’s Bakkafrost hearing but has stepped down from the role due to his involvement in the previous judgment.
Staniford has also agreed to refrain from visiting Scottish Sea Farms sites until a decision is made on their own injunction request, which has been delayed until the Mowi appeal is concluded. Meanwhile, Bakkafrost, which had previously put its injunction on hold, resumed legal action after Staniford allegedly visited its facilities during the summer without authorisation.
