Icelandic salmon farmer Kaldvik, formerly Ice Fish Farm, reported operating income of €24.5 million ($27 million) for the third quarter of 2024, according to a stock exchange announcement on Wednesday.

The operating result before biomass adjustments was just over €2 million ($2.2 million), reflecting weaker performance than anticipated.

Slaughter volume for the quarter totaled 3,798 tonnes, falling short of the 4,500 tonnes previously guided. The company attributed the shortfall to lower-than-expected temperatures, which negatively affected growth and led to postponed harvest.

Kaldvik maintained its full-year 2024 slaughter guidance at 15,000 tonnes.

With permits for 43,800 tonnes, Kaldvik remains Iceland’s largest salmon farmer by production capacity. The company is awaiting clarification on an application for an additional 10,000 tonnes in Seyðisfjörður, which, if approved, would further bolster its capacity.
