Cooke completes acquisition of Peru’s Copeinca

Copeinca is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of anchoveta fishmeal and fish oil.

Cooke Inc., the Canadian seafood giant headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick, has finalized its acquisition of Corporación Pesquera Inca S.A.C. (Copeinca), Peru’s largest fishing company.

The transaction was completed through Copeinca Canada Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cooke, following the execution of a binding share purchase agreement with PF Cayman New Holdco Limited on November 7.

Established in 1994, Copeinca has become a leading player in Peru’s anchoveta fishery, ranking as one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of anchoveta fishmeal and fish oil. The acquisition further expands Cooke’s marine ingredients business and diversifies its geographic and species portfolio.

The deal aligns with Cooke’s strategy to expand its global operations. The company currently operates in 15 countries, employing more than 15,000 people across aquaculture and wild fishery divisions. Cooke first entered the marine ingredients sector in 2017 with its acquisition of U.S.-based Omega Protein Corporation, a producer of specialty oils and protein products.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
