Laxey reaches major milestone with first smolt transfer to Viðlagafjara grow-out facility.

Icelandic land-based salmon farmer Laxey has announced the successful transfer of its first batch of fish from its smolt station to post-smolt tanks at its grow-out facility in Viðlagafjara, marking a key milestone for the company’s operations.

The transfer, which took place last Friday, proceeded seamlessly, with the biomass adjusting well to its new environment, the company said in a statement. The event follows extensive preparation by both the construction and technical teams to ensure the post-smolt tanks were operational on schedule.

“This accomplishment represents a significant step forward for our team,” Laxey stated, highlighting the collaboration and effort required to reach this stage. The company did not disclose the volume of biomass transferred or additional details about the grow-out facility.

The achievement is expected to support Laxey’s broader strategy of scaling up its production capabilities and advancing operational efficiencies.
