KB Gruppen confirms fatal diving incident in Nærøysund.

KB Gruppen has confirmed the identity of the diver who tragically lost his life during an operational assignment in Nærøysund on Wednesday.

Vegard Reiersgård Dalen, a 25-year-old professional diver from Tranby, Buskerud, Norway was fatally injured while working aboard the KB Floing, which had a crew of five.

According to a press release issued by KB Gruppen, Dalen was engaged in a routine diving operation when the incident occurred. Police and the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, with KB Gruppen pledging full cooperation with authorities.

“We are doing everything we can to support and care for the bereaved family and our employees during this difficult time,” said Are Brekk, CEO of KB Gruppen. “Vegard was a unique and wonderful colleague, known for his positive attitude and constant smile. This tragic incident has deeply affected everyone at our company.”

KB Gruppen, a diving and service company, was acquired earlier this year by Smir Group as part of a strategic investment in aquaculture technology and services. The company reiterated its commitment to safety and transparency as the investigation progresses.
