Pelagia has announced the consolidation of its sludge management capabilities with the integration of Blue Ocean Technology into its operations.
The merger has led to the creation of a new department, Pelagia Blue Ocean Solutions, which aims to deliver end-to-end sludge solutions to the aquaculture sector.
The newly formed division will handle the entire sludge value chain, from collection and processing to storage, logistics, and resource utilisation. Pelagia’s CEO, Egil Magne Haugstad, highlighted the strategic importance of the move:
“Pelagia Blue Ocean Solutions will be a robust professional environment that builds on shared expertise and technology. This strengthens our ability to develop efficient, profitable solutions tailored to our customers’ needs across the value chain.”
Knut Antonsen, head of the new division, underscored the market’s positive response:
“By consolidating resources and expertise, we’re enhancing our capacity to innovate and expand our offerings. The market is clearly seeking comprehensive solutions, and this step positions us as a preferred partner.”
Pelagia’s strengthened focus on sludge solutions is part of its broader strategy to increase its role across aquaculture operations. The company’s efforts have already resulted in increased demand and new types of service requests from the industry.
Pelagia produces pelagic fish products for human consumption and key ingredients for fish and animal feed. Pelagia is jointly owned by Austevoll Seafood ASA and Kvefi AS.
