SalmonBusiness has appointed Seumas Grey as Consultant Commercial Director.
SalmonBusiness has announced the appointment of Seumas Grey as Consultant Commercial Director, marking a milestone for the publication as it continues to expand its reach across the global seafood industry.
Grey, who brings over 15 years of experience in senior commercial roles, including Advertising Sales Director at IntraFish Media and Commercial Director at Saga Publishing, will lead efforts to refine and enhance the company’s commercial strategy. His role will focus on building sustainable revenue streams, delivering innovative advertising solutions, and strengthening relationships with industry partners.
Positioning for Growth
Discussing his vision for the role, Grey emphasized the unique position of SalmonBusiness as the only dedicated English-language news platform for the salmon industry, a sector valued at tens of billions of dollars annually and expanding across continents.
“SalmonBusiness operates at the intersection of a vital and rapidly evolving industry. Salmon is no longer confined to Norwegian aquaculture; it is now a global enterprise, with innovation and investment stretching across Scotland, Chile, Canada, and Japan,” he said. “This platform has the opportunity to become the definitive voice of the sector, supporting an industry that feeds millions and drives economic growth globally.”
Grey outlined his immediate priorities, including upgrading technology and professionalizing operations. “The first step is to ensure we’re using the best tools available. Improving operationally is a top priority—it will give us better insights, precision, and a much more sophisticated platform for our advertisers,” he explained.
Strengthening Internal Systems
Grey is also focused on tightening internal workflows, introducing a client relationship management system to streamline partnerships, and implementing advanced analytics tools to refine audience engagement strategies. “Understanding our readers and tailoring content to their needs is critical. It’s not just about increasing traffic; it’s about ensuring we’re delivering the right content to the right audience,” he noted.
“Part of my review involves ensuring our site and ad delivery systems are optimized across all devices. We want a seamless experience for both readers and advertisers.”

Editor Matthew Wilcox welcomed Grey’s appointment as a pivotal step toward achieving the publication’s long-term goals. “Seumas’s expertise and extensive network mark an important milestone for us as we work to secure a sustainable footing for the business. His leadership will be key to elevating SalmonBusiness’s impact and expanding its commercial success,” Wilcox said.
