HAV Group cecures contract for live fish carriers.
Norwegian water treatment supplier HAV Group has secured a contract worth more than NOK 20 million ($1.8 million) to supply its systems for two live fish carriers operating in the aquaculture industry.
The deal, signed with an undisclosed customer, underscores HAV Group’s growing presence in the sector as demand for advanced water purification solutions increases.
The company’s water treatment subsidiary, Norwegian Greentech AS, specializes in ballast water treatment and purification technologies for both aquaculture and the broader maritime industry.
Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) are designed to treat and manage water on vessels, preventing the spread of harmful microorganisms and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. In aquaculture, these systems are adapted to live fish carriers, where maintaining high water quality is essential for fish welfare during transport. Effective water treatment reduces disease risk, stabilizes water parameters, and supports overall fish health, making it a critical component in modern aquaculture logistics.
It has delivered over 800 water treatment systems globally, including more than 30 for live fish carriers, according to a market update from the company on Tuesday. The latest contract further strengthens HAV Group’s foothold in the aquaculture sector, which has become a key market for water management solutions.
“The observant shareholder sees that water treatment packages to the aquaculture industry are considerably larger than standard-size ballast water treatment systems. This is also reflected in the contract value, as this contract is a good example of. We are seeing increased activity within both traditional and land-based aquaculture, and we are hopeful of securing more work in this industry going forward,” said Gunnar Larsen, CEO of HAV Group.
HAV Group has been increasing its focus on aquaculture as a growth driver. At the end of the third quarter last year, the company’s water treatment business reported an order backlog of NOK 46 million ($4.09 million). The latest contract suggests continued momentum in the sector, where investment in water quality management is rising amid stricter environmental regulations and industry-wide sustainability initiatives.
HAV Group ASA, listed on Euronext Growth under the ticker code HAV, specializes in maritime and marine technology, with a strong focus on solutions supporting the industry’s transition to lower emissions and improved sustainability.
