Mowi launches strategic review of feed division
Mowi has initiated a strategic review of its integrated Feed division, assessing potential options, including a sale, the company announced on Tuesday.
The division, which operates feed mills in Norway and Scotland with a combined production capacity of 700,000 tonnes, generated €1.12 billion in revenue and €62 million in operational EBITDA in 2024. Its facilities supplied nearly all of Mowi’s European salmon farming operations last year and employ 140 full-time staff.
“In just a few years, Mowi has grown from a 400,000-tonne farmer to approaching a 600,000-tonne farmer, with production in seven countries and 11 farming regions, with all the complexity that entails,” said CEO Ivan Vindheim. “Mowi also has an extensive downstream business in 26 countries. In order to streamline our operations, we therefore feel the time is ripe to assess how our Feed division will be organised in the future.”
Mowi has engaged Arctic Securities to assist with the review but cautioned that there is no certainty a transaction will take place.
The company said it will provide further updates “as appropriate” but does not intend to comment further unless a definitive agreement is reached or the process is terminated.
Mowi, the world’s largest producer of farmed Atlantic salmon, operates in Norway, Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Canada, and Chile. The group generated €5.6 billion in revenue in 2024 and employs 11,800 staff across 26 countries.
