Irish agriculture, food, fisheries, and marine minister Timmy Dooley will address the IFA Aquaculture Conference and AGM at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, Castletroy, Limerick, on Thursday, 20 March 2025.
The event takes place ahead of the Irish Skipper Expo at UL Sport Arena on 21–22 March.
This will be Dooley’s first opportunity to speak directly to the aquaculture sector since his appointment, with discussions expected to focus on the National Strategic Plan for Sustainable Aquaculture Development 2030.
IFA Aquaculture Chair Finian O’Sullivan recently met with Minister Dooley alongside other seafood industry representatives, raising concerns about investment and legislative changes required to meet the plan’s objectives.
Specific challenges in the bottom and rope mussel sector were highlighted, with calls for a support mechanism to address biological, economic, and market challenges.
The conference agenda will include updates on climate change impacts, EU aquaculture policy, and the Programme for Government’s relevance to the sector. The IFA Aquaculture AGM will take place in the afternoon.
Registration for the conference is now open, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
