The fire started around 08.40 AM local time at a Blumar factory in the city of Talcahuano.
According to BioBioChile, eight fire companies were called to deal with the fire that started in cafeteria at the factory. It is regarded as Blumar’s main plant, and being 400 kilometers away from Santiago’s air cargo hub, it’s closer than other producers.
The fire was under control around 20 minutes later, and no one was hurt.
A fire service spokesman said: “We don’t know how the fire started.”
The company says that they have turned off the power as a consequence of the incident, and all production has been suspended until further notice.
