Skagen Aquaculture aims to produce 1,500 tons of rainbow trout annually.
The founder of the company, Esben Bøje Jensen, worked as a lawyer for 17 years. Now, he has his sights set on the aquaculture industry, according to Danish newspaper Børsen.
The land-based rainbow trout farm is scheduled to be finished during 2019.
“We have a financing plan in place for the project, and we are negotiating a deal with a venture capital fund. We have already received partial funding of the project through some visionary local investors, who have fully supported the project,” said Bøje Jensen.
According to the newspaper, permission has been granted for the construction of two additional plants, which will produce up to 3,000 tonnes of rainbow trout a year.
