Time to taper off on work commitments after 32 years in fish feed sector.
Einar Wathne has decided to vacate his position as Group Leader at Cargill Aqua Nutrition. He will immediately take on a strategic role as head of seafood in Cargill Animal Nutrition.
According to a press release from the feed group, the new role is a strategy that will entail Wathne applying his knowledge and expertise to investigating the potential to expand Cargill’s presence, influence and success in the seafood value chain.
Stepping down
Wathne has decided to leave Cargill altogether, once this strategy has been successfully implemented.
“Einar has, since joining Cargill through the acquisition of EWOS in 2015, fronted the effort to position Cargill as a leader in aquaculture, and in integrating EWOS within Cargill Animal Nutrition. We now look forward to reaping the benefits of his knowledge in our preparations for further success in the seafood value chain,” said Joe Stone, Executive Vice President Cargill Animal Nutrition.
“Three years has passed since we commenced the integration of Cargill and EWOS, thus combining the knowledge from both companies. I look back on this amazing journey and the achievements of our team with much joy and enormous pride that we have built a global leader in feed for fish and shrimp, based on innovation, sustainability and customer comprehension,” said Einar Wathne.
Prioritising family
“After 32 years in the fish feed business, I’ve decided to taper off on work commitments to spend more time on family and other interests. But right now I’m looking forward to immersing myself in the strategy Cargill has planned, where I will be helping to further develop our commitment to seafood, an industry I am – and always will be – passionate about,” he added.
Adriano Marcon, currently Group Director of Cargill Feed and Nutrition, is Wathne’s successor.
“Adriano, with his innovative mind set, dynamism, focus on people and successful background from Provimi and Cargill, will contribute greatly toward positioning Cargill Aqua Nutrition more prominently as a leader in the industry. I am convinced he is the right leader for Cargill Aqua Nutrition,” said Wathne.
