US Ambassador Robert “Woody” Johnson visited Grimsby offices.
The ambassador visited the historic seafood town to learn more about manufacturing and opportunities to expand US-UK trade, the company wrote in a press release.
Meeting with Young’s CEO, Bill Showalter, Cleethorpes’s MP Martin Vickers and several Grimsby business leaders, the group discussed the quality of British made products and how to maximise trade between the two countries.
Chief Executive Officer of Young’s Seafood Bill Showalter said: “Driving exports is a key pillar of our strategic growth plan, and we’re delighted to have had the opportunity to share what makes Young’s unique, and discuss how we can extend seafood trade between the US and UK with Ambassador Johnson.”

Johnson wrote a widely reported article in the Daily Telegraph saying that chlorinated chicken was a “public safety no-brainer” and that health fears over hormone-fed beef were “myths”. “We are now ready to negotiate the most ambitious and comprehensive trade deal in the history of our special relationship,” he wrote.
