Three missing after feed barge sinks

Search operation afoot in Chile.

Chile’s navy is currently assisting in a rescue mission after three crew members disappeared after a feed barge sunk yesterday afternoon, reports La Opinion De Chiloe.

Blumar subsidiary Bluriver told the publication that “during the afternoon of this Sunday, May 5, the company Navsur Transport of the company Soldasur, owner of the vessel Navsur IV, which was providing services for the transfer of fish feed from the farming center, warned us of the sinking of the barge with three crew on board in the sector of Seno Skyring, Commune of Rio Verde .”

The emergency inflatable raft is believed to have not been activated.

The information was confirmed by the agency through Twitter, which also reports that it has deployed naval units and an aircraft to participate in the search.
