Australian animal nutrition producer opens AUD 50 million (EUR 31.2 million) facility.
Ridley has officially unveiled its new aquaculture feed facility at Westbury, Tasmania, Australia, Premier Will Hodgman posted on Twitter.
The extrusion plant has been deliberately located to ensure a steady supply of ingredients from local and mainland suppliers, with the intent to establish an efficient and consistent feed supply chain to Tasmania’s and New Zealand’s growing salmon farming industry.
The project was supported by an AUD 2 million (EUR 1.2 million) grant from the state government.

Ridley acting chief executive David Lord was quoted in the Examiner: “Ridley’s investment in this plant is really an emphatic acknowledgement that we are committed to aquaculture, we’re committed to this marketplace, we’re committed to our salmon customers in this region. It’s the reason we’re here.”
Tasmania Premier Will Hodgman posted on Twitter: “Great to be in Westbury for the official opening of Ridley’s $50 million processing plant that will produce feed for the aquaculture industry. A massive vote of confidence in the Tasmanian economy which the Government supported through a $2 million Business Attraction Grant.”
“Ridley’s new $50M processing facility supported 550 jobs in construction and many local businesses. 20 new jobs and an expected $21M into the local economy each year. The Office of the Coordinator-General helped secure their move to Tasmania.”
