The company made the announcement on its website following a meeting on Friday (September 26).
According to Alsaker Fjordbruk, the application was sent to Hordaland county municipality last fall after the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate had first granted a watercourse license in the Onarheim River.
“This spring, the County Governor issued a permit on application volume based on a facility with RAS1 technology, where about 99 percent of the water goes into recycling,” writes Alsaker Fjordbruk.
“The Norwegian Food Safety Authority approved a production of 17 million post smolt up to a kilo a few weeks ago.”
Based on this, Hordaland County Municipality could print a post smolt license, according to Alsaker Fjordbruk.
The approval is probably the world’s largest post-smolt license, and at least the largest on Onarheim, the company continues.
The detailed design of the post smolt plant is now starting on the Alsaker Brygge Sør commercial area on Onarheim. The area was fully regulated in 2017, and since then planning work has been underway on the site.
