According to a recent survey carried out by research institute CSA, 47 percent of the French people will consume smoked salmon during the holiday season, reports LSA Commerce & Consommation.

With 38,000 tonnes in 2016, France is a major consumer of smoked salmon, the second largest in Europe behind Germany (48,000 tonnes).

The outcome of the survey is a boost for the French salmon sector, that was hard hit last year by soaring commodity prices and price increases.
