Bjarne Martinsen is a state authorised public accountant from NHH (Norwegian School of Economics).

In a press release, the flow-through system salmon farmer Andfjord Salmon writes that it has appointed Bjarne Martinsen (40) as Chief Financial Officer.

Martinsen previouly held the position of Finance Manager in the Norwegian Food Safety Authority nationally.

“To be able to work with a sustainable and innovative company like this, is an opportunity that only occurs once. I am looking forward to getting started. Leaving Mattilsynet (Norwegian Food Safety Authority) is a pity, but I had to get on this amazing sustainability train,” said Martinsen.

He will start in the new position on January 1st.

Andfjord Salmon is a closed sea facility in Norway, where water will be collected from the 170 meters deep. The site will have 100 per-cent flow through fresh seawater. This differs from traditional land-based plants that are based on recycling with water purification.

Founder Roy B. Pettersen’s business idea is to produce thousands of tonnes of salmon in a closed-sea facility filled with cold, lice-free seawater. Andfjord Salmon has previously communicated externally that the long-term plans include a total production of 60,000 tonnes of fish per year, own smolt production and harvest plant. Today, the company has a licence for 10,000 tonnes of salmon per year.

“To have such an experienced, competent and dynamic CFO on the team in Andfjord Salmon is a privilege. Bjarne has experience from top management groups and boards, and has audited several of the major Norwegian banks. He is perfect for joining the journey we are going to make in the coming years,” said CEO Martin Rasmussen.
