Cermaq has risen above AquaChile as the Chile’s largest salmon exporter.

According to La Tercera, Cermaq has outperformed AquaChile both in revenue and volume.

At the end of august, Cermaq was reaching sales of USD337m, 57 percent more than at the same time in 2016.

AquaChile on the other hand, sold fish worth around USD290m, increasing export revenues by “only” 13.2 percent more than in the same period last year.

Industry sources explained that the rise of Cermaq to first place, among other reasons, was its fusion with Salmones Humboldt. The operation concluded successfully and reinforced its plan of productive efficiency.

Another factor of the change in position was the Chile algal bloom, whch affected AquaChile more than Cermaq.
