Aquafeed conference cancelled due to coronavirus

“We really didn’t have a choice.” Organisers of Aquafeed Horizons 2020 conference have cancelled its Bangkok event.

The fast-spreading virus – which is having an effect on salmon exports/imports – is also disrupting the trade show industry.

The 13th Aquafeed Horizons 2020 was due to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 24 but now its organisers have pulled the plug. Speakers from The Marine Ingredients Organisation (IFFO) and Nutrition Technologies were meant to participate.

“This was a very difficult decision, and we waited as long as we could in the hope that the coronavirus epidemic would slow, but unfortunately we are not seeing that”, wrote Suzi Dominy from the publication Aquafeed on LinkedIn.

“We are sorry to disappoint our delegates but their safety and wellbeing, as well as that of our presenters and staff, have to come first. It would have been irresponsible to go ahead with an international meeting in this region; we really didn’t have a choice,” added Dominy.
