Atlantic Sapphire employing Trump-linked lobbyist for Washington influence

Ballard Partners has signed a lobbying agreement with land-based salmon farmer.

Florida Politics reports that Atlantic Sapphire, which is currently building its 220,000 tonnes-a-year-by-2030 Miami Bluehouse in Florida, USA, has employed Ballard Partners, federal disclosures show.

The salmon farmer is using the lobby firm for “economic development opportunities for domestic aquaculture and issues related to trade”.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Ballard Partners founder Brian Ballard was Trump’s lobbyist in Florida for business dealings and a former chief fundraiser for John McCain and Mitt Romney. As Chairman of Trump Victory, the Floridian lead the campaign’s finance efforts in his home state.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), a research group based in Washington, D.C., that tracks the effects of money and lobbying on elections and public policy, Ballard Partners was hired by 95 clients in 2020, for a total amount of USD 5.2 million

Ballard represents many clients such as General Motors, Amazon, Dish Network, Uber and Pernod Ricard. The New York Times reported that Ballard was selling help to firms seeking stimulus money or approval for coronavirus-related products.

Atlantic Sapphire did not want to comment on the signing.
