Land-based salmon farmer Atlantic Sapphire has reported a total harvest of approximately 1,300 tonnes head-on gutted (HOG) salmon for the third quarter of 2024.
THis is a significant increase from the 365 tonnes recorded in Q3 2023.
The rise in harvest volume reflects adjustments made to the company’s feeding capacity during the period.
Biological performance improved through the quarter, with favorable water quality, stable temperatures, and low mortality rates contributing to increased harvest weights, according to a stock exchange update from the company. The Florida-based producer reported an average harvest weight of 1.42 kg HOG in July, 1.55 kg in August, and 2.19 kg in September.
Atlantic Sapphire also noted further optimization of its biomass in line with feeding volumes and anticipates continued growth in average harvest weight in the fourth quarter of 2024.
