Australia and New Zealand to close borders

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told a press conference that “Protecting New Zealanders from Covid-19 is our number-one priority” while Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters “The overwhelming proportion of cases in Australia have been imported”.

As reported in Bloomberg, the measures taken by Australia and New Zealand are some of the most extreme – and will close their borders to everyone except citizens banning non-residents.

King salmon, farmed by companies such as New Zealand King Salmon, accounts for around 15,000 tonnes a year production, with 5,000 tonnes exported.

Australia’s Atlantic salmon farming industry based in Tasmania has had – to date – an annual output valued at around AUD 497 million.
