Authorities approve application for development of Andfjord Salmon land-based fish farming facility

The Norwegian municipality of Andøy has approved a zoning plan application from Andfjord Salmon for the development of a land-based fish farming facility.

The plan specifies the use, conservation and design of land and physical surroundings. it consists of a detailed land-use plan map with associated planning provisions and a plan description.

The company intends to develop and build a land-based fish farming facility at the site that will eventually reach a production volume of 25,000 tonnes.

“Developing and operating fish farming facilities in harmony with the local environment, while capitalizing on the natural advantages of being located at Andøya, is at the core of Andfjord Salmon’s business plan. We are really pleased that Andøy municipality continues to demonstrate its support to local job and value creation here at Andøya,” Martin Rasmussen, CEO of Andfjord Salmon, said.
