Disease believed to have been detected at Chilean salmon farm.

Chilean fishing and aquaculture authorities Sernapesca writes that a positive diagnostic analysis of ISA at one of Granja Marina Tornagaleones’ (Marine Farm) sites has prompted an investigation.

The salmon farmer notified authorities last Wednesday about a site in the Aysén Region, southern Chile.

According to Sernapesca Deputy Director of Aquaculture, Marcela Lara, “once the report with the results was received, the movements were suspended and the inspection by Veterinary Doctors of the Service was coordinated immediately assess the sanitary condition of the fish”.

Sernapesca wrote that If the case is confirmed, all preventive surveillance and control measures will have to be adopted.
